Library Checkout June 2019

library-checkout-feature-imageI’m still trying to manage my library holds so that I can also read some of my own books… so far I’ve been doing a good job of not letting them all come in at once. Is it an art, or a science… I’m not sure! My pre-ordered copy of the new Kate Atkinson, Big Sky, arrived at home Tuesday, so the library books will have a wait a few days. Here’s what I got up to at the library this month. Thanks to Bookish Beck for hosting this monthly celebration of library use!

  1. I’m kind of relieved to hear I Miss You When You Blink is underwhelming, I waffled about whether to read that one but couldn’t get enthused about it. I’m curious to hear what you think about Maid, I’ve heard wildly different reviews of it!

    1. I read 7 essays in I Miss You… and none of them really did anything for me. With my huge TBR list I felt like I couldn’t waste any more reading time. So you’re safe, I think!

I really have no idea when I’ll get to Maid. Hopefully in the next couple of months? Depends on how long I keep pushing back the holds!

    1. Ha ha! Fair enough. I really enjoyed her previous novel, The Signature of All Things, so I have high hopes for this one. I can’t believe it’s on the New Shelf at your library already! We’ve still got over 100 people waiting for copies in our system.

  2. I get carried away with library holds and then have exactly the same problem as you – they all arrive at once. My reserve of Big Sky has just come through and I’m trying to hold off collecting it so I can finish at least one of my 20booksofsummer first…..

  3. So glad you loved The Stranger Diaries – isn’t it great? She’s such a talented writer. I didn’t love My Cousin Rachel quite as much as you, although I enjoyed it. I really must read more du Maurier… just as soon as I’ve finished the two hundred plus books on my TBR… 😉

  4. I have normal People in my holds queue too! I’m 385 or something ridiculous like that. Just when I think I have my library pile down and under control so I can read a book of my own all the books in my queue that the library has had on order arrive and I am back at square one!
